Higher Ground Community Services Ltd Receives Scottish Living Wage Accreditation

By | News

Higher Ground Community Services Ltd are delighted to announce that we have now formally received full Scottish living wage accreditation.

HGCSL’s Bruce Duncan commented:

“Higher Ground are delighted – but not surprised – to have received formal living wage accreditation as the company was established as a morally responsible employer. Our recruitment strategy and employment ethos is targeted towards delivering security of tenure and “real jobs” in an industry where staff are generally treated poorly and employed on a “piece work” basis. Our staff are all salaried and so can secure tenancies or mortgages, a feature that is sadly unique in grounds maintenance”.

If you’re interested in moving to Higher Ground for a real job, then attitude and aptitude are more important than experience. Why not give us a call – it could be the best move you’ve made!

Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) has appointed Higher Ground Community Services Ltd to deliver ground maintenance at Inverness Campus following a European-wide tender.

In the agreement, which will last three years, Higher Ground will provide landscaping services including gardening and horticulture, repair and maintenance, and snow-clearing.

Inverness Campus is one of Scotland’s most innovative projects. Developed by Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) the 215-acre Campus is a focus for the development of one of the region’s key sectors, Life Sciences, and has Scottish Government designation as an Enterprise Area for Life Sciences. The award-winning Campus features an outstanding landscaped environment.

The site has been specifically designed to encourage collaboration between business, research and academia, both within the campus and with neighbouring organisations such as LifeScan Scotland, Raigmore Hospital and the Centre for Health Science.

Ruaraidh MacNeil, project director for Inverness Campus, said: “We are delighted to have agreed a contract with local company Higher Ground Community Services. The high quality environment at the Campus has always been part of its appeal to new investors and local community alike. Maintaining the high standard of landscaping is important to continuing its attraction.”

Garry Sutherland from HGCS, said: “The appointment to Inverness Campus will provide us with an excellent opportunity to continue our relationship with local communities delivering employment opportunities in the industry. We look forward to starting this week at Inverness Campus and working with HIE over the next three years …..”
